Chapter the First
The Author
In the year 1986, while still undergraduates at Yale, Brian Kasbar and his classmate Boykin Curry began a series of books called Essays That Worked.
Each volume gathers real application essays that won students a place at the finest of schools, along with counsel on what made them succeed. Essays That Worked became a New York Times bestseller and went on to sell more than one hundred thousand copies.
The college edition, with fifty essays chosen by admissions officers at leading colleges, was praised by Money magazine and Library Journal.
